Greetings, good sentries and human_friends of Splendid Industries! I present to you the SMK, The Sentinel's Marvellous Kaleidoscope! For those who do not know, the SMK is a progressive/fusion/alternative music radio program broadcasting from out of Guelph at CFRU 93.3 FM, curated and hosted by your master overseers, Nicholas Cooper and Dru Jacey, with a slight focus on progressive rock and a LARGE concentration on Canadian content (CANCON).
It has grown from a being a 1-hour pre-recorded show orchestrated by myself back in late 2016 into its current manifestation: a 2-hour live show every Monday from 3 to 5 PM EST with my sweet radio/prog brother Dru as of Fall 2018. We talk and play a large variety of music in our observational sessions in all formats (digital / CD / vinyl / cassettes / YouTube / Bandcamp-SoundCloud / etc).
We also have two prominent special features for different situations: the artist interview/performance series 'An Audience In The Observational Tower' that can include live-streams on CFRU's YouTube Channel, and the 'Secret Scope' for broadcasts that are not during our time slot and/or off-location (we have broadcasted from the University of Guelph's UC courtyard for a record sale and in Mountain Hall, Take Time Vintage and 10C Shared Space in downtown Guelph, and, the most radiant of all, on-location at Hillside Festival 2018).
You can tune in LIVE every Monday from 3 to 5 PM EST by tuning in on the dial to 93.3 FM in Guelph and surrounding towns, listen online via live audio stream at cfru.ca, or listen on the Rogers Digital Channel 948. If you can't tune in live, you can access the show via the archives lands, either CFRU's online archives or the NCRA community radio exchange. I hope you can listen to us every once in a while to hear our pleasant and often goofy fun chats alongside epic creative music from near and far, looking inward and beyond!
I would like to say thank you and shower all the love I can to the incredible Ty-guy / Toys for making this portal for all the SMK activities, and for his passionate creation of Splendid Industries, providing an inclusive space for us to collaborate together and support our unique eclectic artistic ventures. It is strongly needed now more then ever... XOXO
Now for something completely new! I'm proud to present the SMK's official logo:
After over 2 years, The Sentinel's Marvellous Kaleidoscope finally has its own logo, rather then a quickly snatched Google image LOL! Commissioned by Northern BC artist Miss Chelsea Marie (Miss C. Marie), we now have a personal visual entity to call our own. She has gone above and beyond our own expectations and abilities to make this masterful image of the observational lens, complete with the kaleidoscopic imaginary that sends you inward and beyond, as we strive to purvey with our music curation every week.
Check out Chelsea's official web sites for her art (cmissmarie.com) and her comic series (uhfcomic.com)... A neat fact is that this is the first logo she has made!
